About The Founder
Dahliah Kamaru Zaman founded Waktu Horology in April 2025 at the age of 30, bringing a unique blend of industry expertise and a profound personal mission to the world of watchmaking.
Dahliah's passion for horology ignited a personal quest for knowledge, pursuing her horology education through online courses, workshops, and hands-on assembly, meticulously piecing together watches to understand their mechanics firsthand. This unconventional path—launching a brand before becoming a certified watchmaker—is a testament to her vision. For Dahliah, it is a strategic head start, providing a vital platform to share her creations and set the stage for her ultimate dream of becoming a Malay female independent watchmaker.

Her motivation for starting Waktu Horology is rooted in her childhood, where her parents instilled in her a deep appreciation for history and heritage through visits to museums. As a mother, she felt a strong sense of responsibility to combat the gradual fading of Malay traditions and history among the younger generation. She realised horology could be a powerful, tangible canvas to reconnect with the past and carry its wisdom forward. This sentiment drove her design process, which began with months of meticulous research into traditional Malay art forms.

For Dahliah, Waktu Horology is more than a business; it is a mission. It is her way of honouring and re-illuminating Malay heritage in a fresh, meaningful way, crafting timepieces that are not only well-made but also carry a compelling story for generations to come.
