Waktu Horology

Founder, Dahliah Kamaru Zaman

Waktu Horology stands as Singapore’s first independent watch brand dedicated to preserving and celebrating Malay heritage. Founded in 2025, the brand treats horology as a living canvas, bringing centuries of regional history, traditional motifs, and legendary narratives to life through a refined, contemporary aesthetic.

Every timepiece in our collection tells a story, seamlessly bridging past and present to connect seasoned collectors and new enthusiasts with the rich, maritime legacy of the Malay Archipelago. Through thoughtful engineering and modern design, Waktu Horology’s mission remains clear: to inspire cultural pride at home and share the beauty of our heritage with the global watch community.

About the Founder

Dahliah Kamaru Zaman founded Waktu Horology in April 2025, bringing a unique blend of historical research, design storytelling, and a profound personal mission to the world of independent watchmaking.

Driven by a deep-seated passion for horology, Dahliah pursued her watchmaking education through intensive self-study, self-taught hands-on assembly, and technical research, meticulously piecing together timepieces to understand their mechanics from the inside out. For Dahliah, creating Waktu Horology was a strategic head start: a vital platform to share her heritage-inspired creations while forging her path as Singapore's pioneer Malay female independent watch brand founder.

Her motivation is rooted in her childhood, where her elders instilled a deep appreciation for history through visits to regional museums and cultural landmarks. As a mother, she felt a strong responsibility to combat the fading awareness of Malay traditions among younger generations. Recognising horology as an enduring, wearable canvas to preserve this legacy, her design process involves months of rigorous research into traditional textile motifs, architectural forms, and regional history.

For Dahliah, Waktu Horology is far more than a business; it is a lifelong mission. It is her way of re-illuminating Malay heritage in a fresh, contemporary light, crafting meaningful timepieces that carry compelling stories for generations to come.
